Message from General Co-Chairs

ICMU, International Conference on Mobile Computing and Ubiquitous Networking, was established as prestigious technical conference covering all aspects of mobile computing and ubiquitous networking in 2004. Since the first ICMU took place in Yokosuka, Japan in 2004, ICMU have been held in Osaka, Japan in 2005, London, UK in 2006, Tokyo, Japan in 2008, Seattle, USA in 2010, Okinawa, Japan in 2012, Singapore in 2014, and Hakodate, Japan in 2015. ICMU has been attractive scientific events of the mobile computing and networking community from industry and academia.

Over the past 10 years since the first ICMU, major technical shift in information and communications technologies has been observed. Data centers and cloud computing drastically changed mobile computing style. Behind these technical shifts, network technologies also play an important role for preparing high-speed wireless access to mobile users. And mobile applications have also changed their style with high-speed Internet access and cloud computing. Under these technical changes in mobile computing and networking field, we believe ICMU covering this wide research area will provide all of you a wonderful environment for extending friendship and fellowship with participants.

This year, the 9th ICMU will be held at Kaiserslautern, Germany. Kaiserslautern is located at the edge of the Palatinate Forest and home to about 100,000 inhabitants. It received its name from the favorite hunting retreat of Frederick Barbarossa who ruled the Holy Roman Empire from 1155 until 1190. The historic city center dates back to the 9th century. Today, Kaiserslautern is a modern hub of information and communications technology and home to a well-known university, a technical college and many internationally renowned research institutes. With the Max Planck Institute for Software Systems, two Fraunhofer institutes (IESE and ITWM), and the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), Kaiserslautern is a top international player in the field of software development. In the international scientific community, DFKI ranks among the most recognized "Centers of Excellence" and currently is the largest research center worldwide in the area of Artificial Intelligence and its application in terms of number of employees and the volume of external funds

We, General Co-Chairs, are looking forward to meeting active researchers all over the world from industry and academia at Kaiserslautern, Germany, in October, 2016.
